Separation is undoubtedly a vital aspect of the chemical industry, as it is necessary to purify the components of the end product from the raw materials that are accessible to the final product that is generated.Various separation procedures exist, each utilising a distinct property such as solubility, volatility, melting point or other similar characteristics to achieve the desired separation results. Selection of separation techniques is based on the components that need to be separated. These separation procedures will be given more possibilities to decrease the amount of waste generated throughout the manufacturing process.

Nowadays, there are new technologies that are being used in order to increase the productivity of the workforce. The advancement of traditional separating methods while simultaneously reducing energy usage and improving separating operations are examples of separation engineering advancements. Innovation is essential for addressing a wide range of serious social and industrial concerns in which separation is critical, such as climate change. The current work investigates the numerous separation techniques and the improvements that have been used to ensure the long-term viability of society.
