Hydrogels have secured a promising place among biomaterials for a broad range of applications. This session will focus on the design, engineering, development and/or newfound uses of hydrogel systems for two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) cell culture, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and other biomedical applications. Hydrogels derived from natural and/or synthetic materials will be highlighted with an emphasis on biomimetic design to control cellular behavior. Systems that capture the heterogeneous nature of native tissues are also of interest.
