(251a) Overview of the Fcic

Authors

Wolfrum, E. - Presenter, National Renewable Energy Laboratory
The FCIC is led by the Department of Energy’s Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) and is a collaborative effort among researchers from 9 different National Laboratories to address the challenges posed by feedstock and process variability on biorefineries. Two key ideas underpin our work - biomass feedstock properties are variable and different from other commodities, and empirical approaches to address these issues have not been very successful.

FCIC researchers are developing first-principles based knowledge and tools to understand and mitigate the effects of biomass feedstock and process variability on biorefineries.

In this session and the companion session FCIC researchers will discuss their work addressing the impacts of feedstock variability across the bioenergy value chain.
