Particle Engineering in Dissolution Enhancement

Chair(s)

Bilgili, E., New Jersey Institute of Technology

Co-chair(s)

Desai, P., Glaxosmithkline (GSK)

This session seeks abstracts of studies that primarily aim to enhance or control release of active pharmaceutical ingredients (small, medium, and large molecules) from enabled pharmaceutical formulations via particle engineering. Abstracts related to novel process designs, methods to understand and manipulate particle attributes such as size, shape, surface roughness, porosity, hydrophobicity, and crystal structure of the drug/excipients and scale up of the enabling processes are of interest. Experimental, theoretical, and computational tools that characterize and predict the dissolution performance of engineered particulates are considered, as are particle engineering approaches for solid state modification including nanocomposites, amorphous solid dispersions, and co-crystals.
