Modern developments in nanotechnology have instigated new budding heat transfer fluids. The curiosity in nano fluids as novel coolants is proved through a numerous research conducted in the field of heat transfer and coolants. The development of such fluids can be by suspending the nano-particles on the known regular base fluids.

These Nano-fluids have been proven to be a potential opportunity to be used as the heat transfer fluids especially as the coolants due to its heat capacity. Due to the smaller in size, leading to the larger surface areas, these fluids can showcase superior thermal properties compared to the conservative heat transfer fluids or coolants. These fluids have improved thermo-physical properties and heat transfer performance as well. Utilization of these fluids, not only appreciably develop heat transfer capabilities but also boost the stability of suspension.

The additional benefit of utilizing the nano-fluids is their utilization for the 'miniature technologies' as they work suitable with the tiny channels which can be clogged due to the larger particle size if used.

Nano fluids illustrate enhanced stability, rheological properties and considerably soaring thermal conductivities. The improved thermal behavior of nano fluids could offer a foundation for an massive innovation for heat transfer intensification, which is of chief significance to numerous industrial sectors including transportation, power generation, micro manufacturing, thermal therapy for cancer treatment, chemical and metallurgical sectors, as well as heating, cooling, ventilation and air-conditioning. The present paper aims to offer an insight in the field of nano fluids through detail evaluation of the physio-chemical, thermo-physical and heat transfer characteristics of nano fluids for practical heat transfer applications.
