Achieving a balance of desired formulation performance characteristics can be a challenging, resource intensive and time consuming to formulators. High throughput strategies enable screening through an expansive formulation space of varying raw materials, levels and blends to identify product synergies and formulation recommendations. Dow has developed high throughput methodologies to screen and identify top performing additives to address desired performance targets. This talk will give an overview of my ten year career path at Dow with a focus on development of new high throughput capabilities and their utilization in combination with benchtop methods and analytical measurements such as atomic force microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to understand the structure and property relationships of additives, formulation design and identification of best performing additives in various formulations.
