(32a) Perseverance and Resilience in Research and Development

In this talk I will go over examples of research and development failures (some might say “learnings”) and pivots to successful project outcomes. Through various examples from my graduate work at MIT and industrial work at both IBM and 3M, I hope to highlight the differences working in more fundamental early research versus product development research. The materials I will highlight are used in applications ranging from antimicrobials to drug delivery to medical adhesives.
