An MIT team including AIChE members Mark Tibbitt and Robert Langer and SBE member Omid Veiseh designed a self-healing hydrogel that can be used for drug delivery. The self-healing properties allow the gel to be inserted into the body via syringe. The gel also can stay it one place and be adjusted to release drugs at varying rates allowing it to target specific areas/situations.
