Gideon Schreiber

Weizmann Institute

For the last 17 years, first as a post-doc with Prof. Alan Fersht (Cambridge, UK) and then as a group leader at the Weizmann Institute (in Israel) I have been fascinated with the question of how the structure of protein-protein interactions is linked to their activity. To address this question, I have adopted a multidisciplinary approach including: bioinformatics and algorithm development, wet biophysical bench work, protein-design and engineering and applied biology. My group members, coming from various backgrounds that include mathematics, computer science, biophysics and biology enabled this multidisciplinary research plan. I am particularly satisfied that we are now able to translate our biophysical and bioinformatic work to biology, in order to understand in quantitative details how protein-interactions fine-tune the biological outcome.
