Biofuels Are Not Optional

We take the modern, developed world for granted. This is a mistake. The amenities (e.g., wealth, education, health care, mobility, etc.) enjoyed in developed nations depend on consuming abundant energy, about 85% of which is derived from fossil resources (oil, coal, and natural gas). Remove abundant energy and the modern world disappears.

This article makes a case for why biofuels will grow increasingly important as the world population surges and the demand for energy grows in the coming future. This article introduces the three platforms that are used to produce biofuels: thermochemical platform, sugar platform, and carboxylate platform.
