The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has developed and published more than 300 codes, standards, recommended practices, and guides intended
to minimize the possibility and effects of fire and related risks. Virtually every building, process, service, design, and installation in society today is affected by NFPA recom- mendations. The chemical process industries (CPI) are particularly impacted by the safety measures contained in the NFPA codes and standards.
