On September 16, 2011, the America Invents Act (AlA) was enacted, representing the first major overhaul of the U.S. Patent system in nearly 60 years. The AlA substantively changes many aspects of patent law, such as a switch to a first to file system, providing new types of prior art to invalidate patents, providing many new ways to challenge patents, both pre and post-grant, and providing new defenses to patent infringement, among others. Webinar participants will be exposed to the changes in these patent laws, as well as presented with strategies that can help them take advantage of the new patent laws.
