This webinar provides an overview of life cycle analysis tools and applications drawing upon two decades of experience at the University of Michigan Center for Sustainable Systems. Life cycle models provide a comprehensive basis for measuring sustainability performance and guiding environmental and economic improvement of products, technology and systems. Life cycle assessment (LCA), life cycle cost analysis, life cycle optimization and life cycle design methods are demonstrated through a range of applications including residential buildings, appliances, renewable energy systems, automobiles, foods systems and highway infrastructure. Life cycle energy, greenhouse gas, cost and other sustainability metrics for these systems are highlighted. This webinar is designed for a diverse audience interested in understanding the capabilities of life cycle analysis tools for guiding product design, materials selection decisions, purchases and investments, business strategy and government policy.
