Rising energy costs and increasing environmental pressure in recent years have led to a growing interest in energy management within the process industries. Several major companies have published information on their energy efficiency activities, which encompass a wide range of technical tools and management systems. In this webinar the major approaches are classified into three categories: optimization of current equipment and operations, implementation of economic investments, and sustainment activities. The various approaches are described, potential savings are discussed, and criteria for successful applications are explored.
However, sophisticated methodologies are not the final answer to energy management. Many efficiency improvements are available simply by doing basic things right. The webinar includes a series of examples that show how operators and process designers often overlook simple changes that can lead to dramatic gains, and provides guidance on how to avoid some of the pitfalls.
