Why is it important to become a registered professional engineer? In this webinar, we discuss reasons why it may become important for you, regardless of your current situation. We present examples of chemical engineers who learned that registration was required in order to do a particular job and, as a result, were either unable to do the job or faced the prospect of taking examinations that they would have been much better prepared for if they were still in school. Finally, we will present information on how to make it through the registration process.

James B. Porter, Jr. was chief engineer and vice president of Engineering and Operations for DuPont until his retirement in 2008. Today, Jim is the founder and President of Sustainable Operations Solutions, LLC which provides consulting services to help companies make significant and sustainable improvements in workplace safety, process safety management, capital effectiveness and operations productivity. Jim joined DuPont in 1966 as a chemical engineer in the engineering service division.
Peter Lederman’s communication experience straddles many venues and a variety of purposes. He has over 50 years of experience in industry, government and academia as an engineer, manager, professor and executive. Pete earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees at the University of Michigan. He has taught communications as part of a culminating process design course. Pete has over 100 published papers and has spoken to technical and non-technical groups on a wide variety of subjects. He has testified before Congress and been an expert witness.
Scott Love graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from Kansas State University in 1980. He started his career with Phillips Petroleum Company's Borger Refinery that same year and is currently a Fellow in ConocoPhillips' Research and Development organization working in the area of heavy crude oil technology development. Scott was registered as a professional engineer in Texas in 1985 and in Oklahoma in 1987 and retains both currently. He was elected AIChE Fellow in 2006, and served on the AIChE Board as Director 2003 - 2005 and as Secretary 2007 - 2009. Starting in the early 1990's,
