This presentation will outline the US Chemical Safety Board concerns and recommendations that lead to the drafting of new ABET chemical engineering program criteria, the wording that is currently working its way through the ABET approval process, other ABET "editorial" changes being proposed for the chemical engineering program criteria, likely ultimate wording of the program criteria, and expected effective date of implementation. The intent of the Education and Accreditation Committee in drafting the new criteria wording will also be summarized.
