This work provides a brief overview of the thermodynamics of centrifugal compressor performance. A discussion of what terms are used to describe compressor performance, how is performance calculated and predicted, how the fan laws can be used to predict compressor performance, and how is this eventually the "cause of the curve". This leads to a overview of how compressor performance be effected by changes in gas flow, temperature and molecular weight. Finally an overivew of possible upgrade and revamp options for centrifugal compressors is provided.
