Bio
Tim Frank is a Dow Fellow and Assoc. R&D Director at The Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan. He holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from Montana State University (1978) and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Colorado – Boulder (1984). Since joining Dow in 1984, Tim has held a variety of positions in process R&D. Currently he is manager of the Process Separations group within Dow’s Engineering & Process Science Laboratory. At Dow, Tim has led the development and commercial implementation of numerous distillation, extraction, crystallization, and adsorption-based processes. He is co-author of 18 publications on various aspects of separations technology and has 6 granted patents. Tim has been active in AIChE as Chair (2010 – 2011) and Director (2012 – present) of the Mid-Michigan Local Section and has served the Separations Division as Area Chair for Extraction (2009 – 2011). Tim is also Editor and Co-author of Section 15, “Liquid-Liquid Extraction and Other Liquid-Liquid Operations and Equipment,” in Perry’s Chemical Engineers’ Handbook, 8th Ed. (McGraw-Hill, 2007). He was elected a Fellow of AIChE in 2010.
