Mike Cheung earned his B.S. in 1979, M.S. in 1982, and Ph.D. in 1985 all in Chemical Engineering and all at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Ohio. Dr. Cheung joined the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering faculty at The University of Akron in September of 1984 as an Assistant Professor. He was promoted to Associate Professor & tenured in 1989 and promoted to Professor in 1998. Prof. Cheung became Chair of the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department at The University of Akron in October 2013. His research interests include engineering educational reform, materials synthesis in nanostructured fluids, laser light scattering, supercritical fluid processing, and sonochemical processing. Prof. Cheung’s research has produced 50 publications, 6 patents, and 134 conference or invited presentations. He has graduated 9 Ph.D.’s and 27 M.S. recipients. Prof. Cheung was recently honored as the 2013 Outstanding Honors Adviser for The University of Akron’s Honors College.
