Eric Freiburger
Bio
Eric Freiburger is the Global Director of Process Safety at Praxair, Inc. In this role, Eric is responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation, and performance of Praxair’s process safety program throughout 50 countries and multiple different businesses and technologies.
Eric has 23 years of experience in engineering, safety, and leadership roles with the chemical and industrial gas industries.
Prior to joining Praxair, Eric worked at NOVA Chemicals for 9 years. He held a number of site leadership and safety positions including the Corporate Process Safety Leader position.
Before joining NOVA Chemicals, Eric worked as a design engineer, technical leader, and project manager for Donahue and Associates and CH2M Hill; both of which are global engineering consulting firms.
Eric has a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from Marquette University and Masters in Chemical Engineering from Duke University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and Oregon.
Eric has been very active in CCPS for many years. He chaired the CCPS Conference at the Global Congress on Process Safety in April 2009 and regularly chairs sessions at the annual Global Congress on Process Safety. He is currently chairing Guidelines for Mechanical Integrity Systems, Guidelines for Process Safety in Capital Projects, and co-chairing Essential Practices for Developing, Strengthening and Implementing Process Safety Culture. He is a member of the CCPS Planning Committee.
