Dr. Peters works in the areas of environmental chemistry and sustainable energy technologies. Research in her lab focuses on using the deep subsurface environment to store, transfer and extract fluids related to energy technologies including carbon dioxide sequestration. In addition, through her educational activities, she engages students in innovative experiences to develop renewable energy technologies such as portable wind power systems. Her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, and the Environmnetal Protection Agency. She is a member of the U.S. EPA Science Advisory Board and she is a past President of the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors.
