Carol Schmidt
Bio
Carol Schmidt is a process engineer residing in her native town of Houston, TX. She currently works for Waldemar S. Nelson as a Process Engineer, EIT. She works mainly on offshore design projects and pilot test projects for offshore use. She graduated from University of Houston in 2007 from the Cullen College of Engineering with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. As a student, she served several internships at Bayer Materials Science in the HCl unit, learning the operations side of Chemical Engineering. She also worked with Peter Strasser in a Fuel Cell Laboratory where she was able to design and create a combinatorial catalyst testing station. She formed a ChemE car team at UH and took her team to the National Competition. She remains active in AIChE, serving as Chair for the STS-AIChE Young Professionals in 2009. In addition, Carol serves on the University of Houston Engineering Alumni Board with her husband, Nathan Schmidt. In her spare time (not that she has any), she enjoys construction projects around the house and spending time with friends and family.
