Interview with Terry Papoutsakis, Jay Bailey Award Winner

ChEnected sat down with Eleftherios Terry Papoutsakis prior to his acceptance of the Jay Bailey Award, at the AIChE Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA to discuss his research and thoughts on the field of biological engineering.

Terry is the Eugene DuPont Chair at the University of Delaware’s Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering. A graduate of the National Technical University of Athens, Papoutsakis received his master’s and doctoral degrees from Purdue University. His research focuses on areas of systems biology, metabolic engineering, experimental and computational genomics with applications in stem-cell biology and prokaryotic biology for the production of biofuels and chemicals from biomass.
