Oil industry leads charge into hydrogen era

Amid growing recognition of hydrogen's potential as a low-carbon fuel, major oil companies such as ExxonMobil and Chevron are ramping up investments in hydrogen processing infrastructure and leading efforts to integrate hydrogen fuel cells into transportation systems. One area of opportunity being explored is using produced water from oil and natural gas operations to produce blue and green hydrogen, according to Permian Basin Petroleum Association President Ben Shepperd.
