Nanoscale Science Engineering Forum (NSEF)

Developing and applying nanotechnologies.

NSEF provides a forum for communication and networking among engineers and scientists who share interests in research and technology development at the atomic, molecular or macromolecular levels. This also includes chemical, biological, and materials processes and products. NSEF coordinates and sponsors relevant programming, including crosscutting and special-initiative technical sessions and conferences that promote the exchange of ideas, concepts, know-how, and experiences in nanotechnology. Furthermore, the NSEF encourages educators at all levels, particularly in chemical engineering, to integrate concepts of nanoscale sciences and engineering in their curriculum.

2008 AIChE-ACS meeting in New Orleans

NSEF has organized two sessions on the Chemical Processing of Nanoparticulate Materials at the AIChE Spring meeting in New Orleans on April 6-10, 2008.  The sessions cover the topics of synthesis, scale-up, functionalization, and assembly of carbon nanostructures, bio-nanomaterials, nanowires, and nanoparticles.  Session I focuses on substrated-supported nanostructures, and Session II focuses on dispersed systems.  Find out more about the program here and register now.

NSEF Awards

NSEF recognizes individuals through the Forum Award and the Young Investigator Award.  The Forum Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the advancement of nanoscale science and engineering in the field of chemical engineering through scholarship, education or service.  The NSEF Young Investigator Award recognizes outstanding interdisciplinary research in nanoscale science and engineering by an engineer or scientist in the early stages of their professional career (within 10 years of completion of highest degree).   To find more information and nominate a colleague, go to the awards page of our website.  The deadline is  May 31, 2008.

If you would like to submit a news item for inclusion in NSEF's quarterly newsletter, email us at nano@aiche.org.
