Andre R. Da Costa

Dr. Andre R. Da Costa has over 27 years of diverse Chemical Engineering experience. He is currently a Process Safety Director with Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Previous positions include: Chemical Engineering Manager with Corning Incorporated; Engineering Manager on a capital improvement project for Chevron North America exploration and production; and Process Development Manager at Membrane Technology and Research in the San Francisco Bay Area where he led research and development of separation technologies for natural gas, refining, and petrochemicals. Andre gained significant international experience while working for Fluor Corporation on a variety of oil and gas and mineral processing capital projects for Fortune 500 companies. Andre worked for other organizations in Africa and Australia.

Andre earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemical Engineering from the DI Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology in Russia, and his Ph.D. from the University of New South Wales in Australia. He holds 14 US patents (and four pending applications) and 30 journal papers or presentations at scientific conferences. He is a Fellow of AIChE, IChemE and Engineers Australia. Andre served on the AIChE Board of Directors as Treasurer and held more than 20 leadership positions, including accountability for the development of the technical program of one of the largest chemical engineering conferences in AIChE’s history – The 2006 Annual Meeting in San Francisco.

Andre is fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and Russian.
