An Executive Course

Today’s industrial leaders of energy and chemical companies must understand the rapidly advancing science of biofuels and biochemicals, regulatory policy shifts, the economics of the technology and its competition, and research and development alliances.  This course will examine biological as well as thermochemical methods for converting biomass to bioenergy

Learning from the Experts

This intensive 2-day course will examine the technologies of processing biomass into biofuels and biochemicals as well as the economics and policy. Industry and academic experts from the Managing and Advisory Boards of the Society for Biological Engineering have organized this comprehensive program.

Who should attend?

Executives who need to rapidly gain an in-depth understanding of the field of biotechnology from a scientific, economic and policy perspective.  The course will be particularly valuable to the following:

  • Executives from the chemical, energy and agricultural industries that are developing or evaluating bioproducts
  • Executives and entrepreneurs from start-up ventures who are developing bioproducts
  • Investors who need to assess technologies and the economics of emerging companies
  • Policy makers, lawyers and legislative staff who need to understand the intellectual property or policy issues

Instructors

Doug Cameron of Piper Jaffray and Michael Ladisch of Purdue University.

Topics include:

  • Starting with the Feedstocks – Where will they come from?
  • A Critical Review of Biomass Process Technologies, including pretreatment, fermentation, thermochemical and catalytic routes
  • The Business of Biomass and Impact of Government Policy, Economics and the Environment
