T9 – Sensors Topical Conference
T9 Sessions
Topical Overview:
This topical examines rapidly changing developments in the design and application of Sensors. Chemical sensors have long been invaluable for industrial process control. Today their value extends to protecting human beings from diseases and disasters and monitoring and enhancing productivity and safety in the workplace. The Sensors Topical Conference will highlight applications for Chemical and Biological Sensing, Environmental Protection, and Homeland Safety.
Highlights you will learn about:
- Biosensors
- Cancer and Biotoxin Detection - methods of detection and implantable sensors for preclinical and clinical applications
- Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) and Optical Devices – microarrays and fiber optic
- Micro- and Nanofabricated Sensors –
- Fabrication approaches and unique applications - Silicon-based MEMS technology - potential/limitations for microsensor development
- Incorporation of sensors into sensor arrays or other forms of sensor integration into micro and nanosystems
- Advances in non-planar, non-silicon based fabrication strategies, including nanotube or nanoelectrode configurations as microsensors or microdetection systems
- Environmental, Catalytic, Industrial and Virtual Sensors
- Sensors for determination of short and long term chemical exposure, and contamination levels of air and water streams.
- Sensors in process streams as part of industrial safety and environmentally conscious designs.
- Investigation of surface chemistry and catalysis in relation to sensor sensitivity and selectivity.
- Cost-benefit assessment and technical challenges in the industrial setting will be welcome.
- virtual sensors, such as the e-nose
