YPC In San Francisco 2013

Student Conference Programming

YPC unveiled a fresh slate of programming for students in San Francisco. Important topics, such as “Where Do Chemical Engineers Work”, “Is Graduate School Right For You,” “AIChE After Graduation,” “What I Wish I Knew When I Graduated”, “How To Ace the Interview”, and “Step Away From The Job Boards” brought a wide range of perspectives to students.   Students from around the world attended and learned many valuable skills to use both as students in the present and as young professionals in the future.

YPC Social

Over 200 students, young professionals, and members of industry met at the Urban Tavern at the Hilton San Francisco to network and learn about involvement with AIChE and YPC after graduation.

The YPC put together a full schedule of technical programming at the conference geared toward s young faculty, members of academia, and industry. To kick things off, YPC held a tutorial on how to navigate the annual conference for all newcomers.  On Monday, YPC sponsored “Innovative Approaches to Sustainable Process and Product Design”, “Getting Your Research Published,” and “How to Prepare and Present a Winning Poster.” On Tuesday, YPC co-sponsored poster session with the Process Development Division on building a career in the chemical industry.  We wrapped things up on Wednesday with an Education Division co-sponsored session on “Responding to Industry’s Needs,” a session on the interaction between academia and industry. In addition, YPC co-sponsored three undergraduate research forums with the Education and Catalysis Divisions . These sessions were well-attended and we plan to continue providing sessions that are relevant to young professionals.
