Dr.Xu graduated from thermal power engineering of the Xi'an Jiaotong University of P. R. China in 1987. He is the president of China Huaneng Clean Energy Research Institute (CERI), the director of National Key Lab. for Clean Coal Energy of P.R.China, the China’s side co-director of Advanced Clean Coal Technology Consortium of CERC sponsored by MOST of China and DOE of USA. Prior to joining CERI, he was the CTO of Thermal Power Research Institute (TPRI) of China, the R&D Center of China Huaneng Group. Dr. Xu has 30 years of experiences on coal gasification, IGCC and CCUS. He was the technical leading director of “GreenGen” project which was the first IGCC with carbon capture project in China. In 2008, Dr. Xu was in charge of developing China’s first post combustion CO2 capture facility for coal-fired power plant (3000-5000t/a), in 2009, he was in charge of developing the world’s largest post combustion CO2 capture unit (120,000t/a) for coal-fired power plant in Shanghai. Now he is in charge of the China’s first pre-combustion CO2 capture unit (60,000-100,000 t/a) based on IGCC.
