Dr. Walt Hart, Global Lead, IHS NGL Research & Consulting
Dr. Walt Hart is a Senior Director at IHS, where he is the Global Lead for the Natural Gas Liquids Research and Consulting Group. Based in the company’s downtown Houston office, Walt joined IHS when IHS acquired the international energy consulting firm Purvin & Gertz, Inc. in 2011.
Dr. Hart oversees the two IHS worldwide NGL multi-client subscription services: Natural Gas Liquids Markets and Waterborne LPG. He leads three annual international LPG Seminars in the US, Asia and Latin America. He has designed and taught workshops and training courses. Dr. Hart is responsible for the NGL consulting activities for IHS. His own proprietary studies have involved business analysis and strategy, market studies, forecasting, valuations and legal support. He works primarily in the area of natural gas liquids and other petrochemical feedstocks, but also has significant experience in petrochemicals, alternative fuels and bio-fuels.
Prior to joining Purvin & Gertz in 2006, Walt spent 14 years at Union Carbide Corporation and The Dow Chemical Company, as well as two years at Owens Corning Fiberglas. He held positions in process engineering, technical sales, research and development, finance and strategic planning. He has also taught at the undergraduate level.
Dr. Hart received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1986 from Notre Dame, an MBA from the University of Charleston and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from West Virginia University. He is a registered Professional Engineer and a member of the Gas Processors Association and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
