Nozomu Yachie

Nozomu Yachie is a Professor and Director of Research at the University of British Columbia’s School of Biomedical Engineering, as well as a Specially Appointed Professor at the University of Osaka University’s Premium Research Institute for Human Metaverse Medicine (PRIMe). Combining technologies in cell engineering, genome editing, and computational biology, the Yachie laboratories develop new methods to measure the dynamics of molecules and cells in complex biological systems, including mammalian development and cell differentiation. After completing his postdoctoral training under Frederick Roth at Harvard and the University of Toronto, Yachie served as an Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo’s Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) from 2014 to 2020. He has received several awards, including the Canada Research Chair (2020), the Allen Distinguished Investigator Award (2022), the JSPS Prize (2024), the Nagase Prize (2024), the Kobe Prize Young Investigator Award (2025), and the Inoue Prize for Science (2026).
