Gregory Hounsell

Greg developed his technical capabilities over a 35 year career at Pfizer Inc., first as a manager for ten years in the Brooklyn manufacturing facility, overseeing the production of synthesis and fermentation based food additives and antibiotics, and then as a design engineer and project manager in the corporation's Global Engineering Department. His engineering activities included providing process consulting support to sites worldwide, process support to capital projects, and design management on various projects.

Greg was instrumental in the development of Pfizer's process safety management culture, guidelines, and design approaches. He served for twenty years as liaison to AIChE's Center for Chemical Process Safety Technical Steering Committee and currently serves on the managing committee of AIChE's  NY Metro local section.

Prior to Pfizer, Greg held additional positions: Royal Globe Insurance (safety audits), NYC Dept. of Air Resources (boiler emission control technology audits and design reviews) and NYS Public Service Commission (water supply system technology audits and rate application assessments).

Greg is currently active as an adjunct instructor in the NY Institute of Technology Energy Management Department and the Stony Brook University Chemical and Molecular Engineering Department.

Greg’s current activity at AIChE involves serving as staff consultant on the CCPS credentialing project and the SACHE undergraduate education initiative.

Greg has degrees in chemical engineering (B.E. Cooper Union, M.E. Manhattan College) and is a NY State licensed P.E
