2015 Annual Student Conference Experience: Tanishq Pathak

Reflections: An Experience to Cherish

By Tanishq Pathak

It was one of my childhood dreams to travel to the US and I am grateful to AIChE Foundation for this wonderful opportunity which made my dream come true. With the generous funding of AIChE, I had a very comfortable journey and a very pleasant stay in Salt Lake City.

The events and seminars were all lined up and in every seminar there was a lot to learn. I attended all the seminars I could and have learnt a lot from each one of them. For me, the conference started in evening at the Student Mixer which was a new experience that allowed me to meet a lot of fellow future chemical engineers and forge new friendships.

The next morning kick started with a wonderful seminar and breakfast and the whole day offered a lot of excitement. I was delighted to meet delegates from many companies and interact with them. Sharing ideas and experiences with them was just mesmerizing. I was particularly looking forward to Prof. Scott Fogler whose Reaction Engineering book we follow so religiously in our curriculum.

The action at the Chem-E-Car Arena was awesome, I got good ideas to implement for our Chem-E-Car team. Also, the recruitment fair was a good place to find out about various universities and companies. The poster competition provided an insight into the recent trends in the research field of ChemE.
Overall, the Annual Student Conference experience as a Travel Grant winner was awesome. Truly an experience of a lifetime.
