These Vibration Level Switches are Impervious to Product Variations

The Optiswitch 3000, for the level detection of bulk solids, and the 5000, for the level detection of liquids, are virtually unaffected by the chemical and physical properties of their respective application media, including density, conductivity, viscosity and dielectric constant. Key to the Optiswitch’s robust operation is a tuning fork that is energized piezoelectrically and vibrates at the mechanical resonance frequency. Because the piezo is fixed mechanically, it is not subject to temperature shock limitations. When the tuning fork is immersed in a liquid or solid, the vibrating frequency changes, is detected by the integrated oscillator, and is converted into a switching command. Both the 3000 and 5000 are available in standard- and extended-tube versions, and the 3000 is also offered in a cable version.

For Mass Flowmeters, Here’s a Wireless Option

The ST50 and ST75 flowmeters are now available with a wireless communication option. Featuring built-in infrared technology and a standard personal data assistant (PDA), field technicians can obtain measurements, make setting changes, and read troubleshooting codes without opening the instrument. The wireless capability makes the flowmeters ideal for hard-to-reach locations or where opening the instrument is inconvenient or labor intensive. The ST50 is an insertion-style mass flowmeter designed for air, compressed-air or nitrogen flow measurements in line sizes ranging from 2 in. to 24 in. (51 mm to 610 mm). The ST75 is a direct mass flowmeter designed for air- or gas-measurement in smaller line sizes, from 0.25 in. to 2 in. (6 mm to 51 mm).

Corrosive Streams are Tolerated by Flowmeters with Tantalum Wetted Parts

A common problem for engineers specifying high-accuracy flow meters for applications such as hydrochloric acid or chlorine gas flows is finding meters with suitable wetted materials. The RHM series of Coriolis mass flowmeters is made with tantalum wetted materials for highly corrosive flow streams. The meters are available in line sizes ranging from 1/4 in. to 6 in., with accuracies of better than 0.2%.

For Process Monitoring, Try an Infrared Camera

The M7500 is a fixed-installation infrared camera with 320 ¥ 240 resolution. Producing superior images and temperature measurement (±2°C) for many long-wave applications, the camera handles mid-wave, too. Spectral tuning enables the M7500 to be configured for its specific application, including that where high-temperature capability (200°C–2,000°C) is desired. The M7504 version of the camera offers flame-filtering capability for furnace/kiln monitoring. Both models have advanced, maintenance-free electronics and industrial-grade protective packaging. Data are transferred from the camera to software, in real-time, through a 100 Base T Ethernet connection.

Get Back Pressure and Adjustable Relief in a Single Valve

SB Series back-pressure relief valves provide reliable opening and adjustable relief pressures from 3 to150 psi. Made for chemical dosing lines up to 4 in., these valves offer high flowrates, low hysteresis, and low overpressure, to fully open. When installed as a back-pressure valve, installed inline, and downstream of a pump, the back pressure below the metering pump is maintained. When installed in the branch of a tee, the SB is a pressure-relief valve. The valve stays closed until inlet pressure reaches the set pressure, which is adjusted by turning the spring tensioning bolt. True union end-connections up to 2 in. eliminate the leakage problems commonly associated with threaded-body valves. All-plastic construction provides chemical resistance.

Control Fugitive Emissions by Checking the Weather

The Model LB100 Ultrasonic WeatherStation meets the growing need for real-time, site-specific weather information. An all-in-one weather sensor calculates apparent wind speed and direction, barometric pressure, air temperature, relative humidity, dewpoint and wind-chill temperature. An internal compass and global positioning system are optional features; when both are included, true wind speed and direction can be calculated, which enables more accurate estimates of fugitive emissions flowrates. This enables the facility to employ the most-effective control technology. Also, the WeatherStation has no moving parts to wear out or break down.

A Dual-Gas Analyzer is Suited for Sterilization chambers

This device employs technology originally developed for optical gas analyzers that measure ethylene oxide (EO) concentrations in medical sterilization chambers. Now the technology is making its debut in a dual-gas analyzer. In sterilization chambers, the new insrument gives readouts with accuracy of ±3% for both EO and H2O (steam is used to enhance efficacy of EO), despite abrupt changes in chamber temperature, humidity, pressure, condensation levels, product gas absorption. Also useful for petrochemical applications, the dual analyzer can give continuous readout of natural gas and CO2 levels despite varying pressures, proportions and flows. The standalone analyzer withstands harsh conditions, including elevated temperatures, dust, corrosion, oil mists, aerosols, and toxic and explosive environments.
