The PI of RCN-CCUS, Alissa Park, developed a module for producing chalk/limestone by using CO2. In this module, the students mixed solutions of calcium chloride and dissolved CO2 to produce CaCO3 (chalk/limestone), and filtered the resulting mixture to produce pure CaCO3. Fourth grade students from The Birch Walthen Lennox School in NYC participated in this outreach event on Friday, January 24, 2014.
