Parity Bit

A binary digit appended to an array of bits to make the sum of all the bits always odd (odd parity) or always even.

A binary digit appended to a group of bits to make the sum of all the bits always odd (odd parity) or always even (even (parity); used to verify data storage and transmissions.

A bit added to a digital word before processing, to control parity, and used later as one check of the accuracy of the processed data.
