Rey Chern

Rey T Chern, PhD Dr. Chern is a Director in the Merck Manufacturing Division, responsible for network-wise alignment on sterile manufacturing issues including glass containers, single-use technologies, extractable/leachable, container closure integrity, etc. Between January 2000 and May 2011, he led a team that focuses on primary container/stability development and mathematical modeling of unit operations. He also managed a controlled-release formulation development group until December 1999. Before joining Merck in 1991, Dr. Chern was an Assistant Professor at the Chemical Engineering Department of North Carolina State University. Dr. Chern has been very active in Merck internal and external teams for addressing current issues on primary container systems, drug delivery, and formulation, such as PDA, IoPP/DPPC, PQRI; Merck-internal efforts on component-standardization, CCI, E/L, formulation-container compatibility, shipping-impact evaluation, container-device interface, device strategy, stability streamlining, PMF development, new delivery & formulation technology evaluation, etc.
