Dr. Gerald Hill

Dr. Gerald (Jerry) Hill is an energy and environmental consultant with extensive experience in both the electric utility and oil/gas sectors. He serves as senior technical advisor to the Southern States Energy Board (SSEB) and coordinates the Board’s carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) programs. Dr. Hill  is a also consultant to RTI International on its warm gas clean up and carbon capture project at Tampa Electric’s Polk County, Florida site and to the Virginia Center for Coal and Energy Research at Virginia Tech on its enhanced coalbed methane recovery and carbon storage project. He has extensive experience in CCUS collaboration and knowledge sharing, including the U.S. Department of Energy’s Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnerships, the Southeast Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership (SECARB) and its SECARB-Ed training program, the European CCS Demonstration Project Network, the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum, and the Global CCS Institute.

Dr. Hill has over 33 years of experience with the petroleum and electric utility industries, and has a Doctorate in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Iowa. He has been an AIChE member since 1990. His experience includes permitting and regulatory affairs for an investor owned utility, officer and partner in cogeneration and independent power development, and director of regulatory affairs for an integrated oil and gas company.
