The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) announced the launch of an Upstream Engineering and Flow Assurance Forum in conjunction with the opening of the Offshore Technology Conference, of which it is a sponsoring organization.

The first Middle East Process Engineering Conference and Exhibition (MEPEC) is scheduled for October 23 to 26 at the Gulf International Convention Centre in Manama, Bahrain. Organized by the Saudi Arabian Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and the Bahrain Society of Engineers, the meeting will offer practical approaches to performance and innovations in the process industries, particularly upstream and downstream activities in oil, gas and petrochemicals.

WASHINGTON  The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded grants today to six college teams across the country who participated in the 7th annual EPA People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3) award competition held at the National Sustainable Design Expo on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Chemical engineers are working to find solutions for many global problems, including clean energy and water. Those topics, along with improved safety of chemical plants and processes, will be featured at this year’s Spring Meeting of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and 7th Global Congress on Process Safety.

To facilitate collaboration across borders--both national and disciplinary ones—the Engineers Forum on Sustainability, has launched a new web site: http://efs.aiche.org. The site uses the latest communication technologies, including social media, to improve the dissemination of information on sustainable development. Its development has been underwritten by a grant from the United Engineering Foundation.
