Chemical & Car shipments to the National Competition

At the 2009 National Competition, chemicals WILL NOT be provided by the host chapter. Hydrogen and distilled water will be available on site, but teams will be responsible for purchasing and arranging for safe delivery of the chemicals and quantities they need for their own participation.

Teams are expected to follow DOT regulations in the shipping and transportation of chemicals. For the national competition the team is required to ship the minimum amount of material (i.e. no more material than what is required for five runs). Chemicals and cars must be shipped only to the address shown below. All CHEMICALS & CARS must be received at the holding facility no later than Tuesday, November 3, 2009.

Chemicals should be shipped directly from the chemical vendor rather than from the student contestants. Some university chemical stockrooms may be able to package and ship chemicals to the conference site, but this would need to be done in accordance with DOT and other regulations. Do not attempt to bring chemicals or Chem-E-Cars on board airplanes. Also, it is best to avoid carrying chemicals to the competition in motor vehicles.

Shipped cars will be available to students beginning at noon on Saturday, November 7 (location TBD). Chemicals will not be made available until Sunday, November 8.
