Student Chapter Spotlight

July

The Technical University of Denmark (DTU)’s SBE student chapter is the largest of its kind in Denmark. They have been active since 2006 and have organized academic open mics, lecture sections, company visits, and mentoring in systems biology. The chapter has also hosted its own Symposium for Biotechnology Research, bringing over 25 industry and academic organizations together to focus on innovation and networking.

April

SBE student members from Tufts and MIT took a joint tour of the Shire Process Development facility in Cambridge, MA.  They met with Shire engineers and scientists to discuss career paths and job opportunities.  The tour wrapped up with a 45 minute question and answer session.  SBE volunteer and Shire employee Robin Ng gave this advice to students, "Having a great network and spending time expanding and maintaining your network is always helpful. I wish I had done better when I was in college."
