Maintaining Well Balanced AIChE / SBE Student Chapter Operations
William Bagdorf and Krystina Laucik, officers of the Johns Hopkins University joint AIChE/SBE student chapter in Baltimore, MD
Join other SBE members in this presentation by the officers of one of SBE’s most active student chapters. They will present their model for establishing and maintaining a balance between social and industry events while also balancing traditional ChemE and BioE focuses. They will discuss the benefits of creating an SBE student chapter, event ideas and recommendations for maintaining continuity.
About the Chapter
In 1985, an AIChE Student chapter was established at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. 25 years later, with about 180 dues-paying members, they have grown to be one of the largest and most active student groups on campus. In 2007, they became a joint AIChE/SBE chapter to align themselves with the students’ and faculty’s growing interest in biological engineering. They are strongly supported by the Whiting School of Engineering’s Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, which is home to approximately 333 undergraduates.
