SBE Associate
AIChE is currently seeking an Associate for its Society for Biological Engineering Team! Established in 2004, the Society for Biological Engineering (SBE) is a technological community for engineers and applied scientists integrating biology with engineering. Members of SBE come from a broad spectrum of industries and disciplines and share in SBE’s mission of realizing the benefits of bioprocessing, biomedical and biomolecular applications. http://bio.aiche.org.
In this position, the successful individual will act as a partner for the Society for Biological Engineering and a key contact for current technical initiatives in energy, water, sustainability and nanotechnology.
Responsibilities:
•Write and create monthly newsletters containing industry, technical and societal news
•Develop and deploy monthly webinars for technical seminars with experts in academia or industry
•Work with conference organizers to develop and implement the program, marketing and sponsorship/exhibit sales; assemble all conference program materials
•Lead efforts to attract new SBE members; Analyze membership trends
•Establish and maintain SBE student membership chapters
•Research and develop proposals for grant funding of technological project that are important to our members and the community
•Supports SBE’s vision through ownership and accountability, assisting in the research and development of new conferences, programs and projects
Qualifications:
•Minimum BS degree in biological engineering. ChE with strong bio interest may also apply.
•Minimum 1-2 years experience is preferred
•Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite and CMS
•Excellent writing skills; strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
•Excellent project management and organization skills
•Strong attention to details and proofreading
•Self starter; ability to follow through
•Capability for effectively working with individuals and groups at all levels, building and sustaining relationships and acting as a team player
•20% travel is required-mostly national

Responsibilities/Qualifications:
- A current junior/senior chemical engineering student with a strong interest in Biological Engineering
- Managing/Editing website experience is a plus
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
- Must be able to meet deadlines
- Strong computer skills: MS Office, Internet, Database
- Outstanding time management and organizational skills a must
- Strong attention to detail; a creative problem solver
- Strong communication, writing and editing skills are required
- Must be able to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week
- A minimum GPA of 3.0
