- Experience must include two years experience with the following, which may have been obtained concurrently: conceive and plan synthetic routes to molecules synthesizing and purifying novel compounds, design laboratory experiments and analyze data using re'd technology including Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, HPLC, Mass Spectroscopy, Liquid Chromatography, independently develop and carry out synthetic reactions towards target molecules
Job Description:
GlaxoSmithKline is seeking a Senior Scientist for its Research Triangle Park location to conceive and plan efficient synthetic routes to molecules of interest; design laboratory experiments, conduct synthetic reactions toward target molecules, and develop synthetic methods as needed within the HIV Drug Discovery organization; utilize appropriate state-of-the-art techniques for isolating and characterizing products; analyze biological data and establish SAR hypotheses that impact target molecule selections; establish priorities and coordinate work schedules in agreement with program priorities; maintain detailed laboratory notebooks, cross-referenced data files, and records of ideas and inventions; contribute to the drafting of patent applications and scientific publications; develop an understanding of medicinal chemistry and relevant biochemical disciplines with particular emphasis on area of research; establish and maintain a detailed knowledge of literature related to areas of HIV research
