Job Description:

Postdoctoral research associate positions are available immediately to study the metabolic, regulatory and signaling pathways and networks that regulate nitrogen (N) storage and cycling in Poplar.  This project is funded by the Plant Genome Research Program of the National Science Foundation (NSF) and will obtain and integrate data from genomic, proteomic and metabolic flux studies to identify and functionally test candidate genes and transcription factors that regulate N storage and cycling.  The postdoctoral associates will be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Dr. Gary D. Coleman (Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture), Dr. Ganesh Sriram (Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering), Dr. Jianhua Zhu (Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture), and Dr. George Ude (Bowie State University) and will contribute to both the research aims of the project as well as outreach and educational activities. Candidates should hold a PhD degree in biology, engineering or a related field and demonstrated expertise in one or more of the areas of functional genomics, proteomics, metabolic flux or pathway analysis, metabolomics, systems biology and/or computational biology.
