Attend the June SBE Webinar

Friedrich Srienc of the University of Minnesota will present on Designing Efficient Metabolic Networks for Biofuels Production on June 25, 2009.  The presentation will explore several case studies where Elementary Mode Analysis is used to reduce a metabolic network for efficient biofuel production.

Stem Cells with Dr. Doug Melton

Dr. Doug Melton of the Harvard’s Stem Cell Institute was interviewed by Charlie Rose on Tuesday, May 5th. He stressed the need for bioengineers to work with stem cell biologists to realize potential applications of stem cells such as in turning embryonic stem cells into insulin producing beta cells for diabetics.

Nominate an Individual for SBE's James E. Bailey Award

The James E. Bailey Award is presented to an individual who has had an important impact on bioengineering and whose achievements, either specific or general, have advanced this profession in any of its aspects. The deadline for 2009 nominations is June 1, 2009.

Save the Date for SBE's Second International Conference on Stem Cell Engineering

Co-Chairs Peter Zandstra of University of Toronto and George Daley of the Children's Hospital at Harvard Medical School are planning SBE's Second International Conference on Stem Cell Engineering. The Conference will take place at the Hyatt Harborside Hotel in Boston, MA on May 2-5, 2010.
