January Section Meeting: Rheology of Non-Newtonian Fluids
Many of the products we use every day (from food and drinks to soaps and shampoos) are complex fluids. Using rheological and spectroscopic characterization, a better understanding of the nanoscale domains, microstructure and macroscopic properties of these fluids is gained and used to develop new materials and products to improve our lives. This knowledge of the flow properties of non- Newtonian fluids provides opportunities to form collaborations with scientists and engineers in the fields of physics, biology, material science, chemistry and environmental science to benefit current and emerging technologies from oil recovery to bioenergy and solar materials. |
