NSEF is presenting the 5th Annual Topical Conference on Nanoscale Science and Engineering.

Related topical conferences include Carbon Nanotubes, Bionanotechnology and Nanowires.

Technical highlights at the Nanoscale Science and Engineering Topical Conference are:

  • Nanomaterials and Devices for Energy Applications, Nanoelectronic Materials
  • Self and Directed Assembly at the Nanoscale, Manipulation of Nanophases by External Fields
  • Nanostructured Organic/Inorganic Hybrid Materials, Self-Assembly of Templated Inorganic Materials
  • Nanoscale Structure in Polymers: Self-organization of Polymers at Surfaces and Interfaces, Nanostructured Polymeric Materials and Polymer Nanocomposites, Nanotemplating of Polymers
  • Interfacial Phenomena within Nanomaterial Surfaces, Dispersions, and Composites, Nanotribology, Nanofabrication and Nanoscale Processing.

Events include:

  • NSEF's Plenary Awards Invited Lectures on Tuesday, November 1 from 8:30-10:30 am.
  • Bionanotechnology's Plenary Sessions on October 31st - November 2nd from 8:00 – 10:30 am.
  • Educational Outreach: Teaching Nanotechnology from 12:30-3:30 pm on Monday, October 31st
  • Nanotechnology Tutorial Session on Methods of Computational Nanotechnology, cosponsored by Group 22 and Topical 3 – Multiscale Analysis in Chemical, Materials and Biological Processes from 12:30-3:00 pm on Sunday, October 30th.
  • NSEF’s Plenary Lectures entitled “Chemical Engineering Principles for Nanotechnology” from 12:30-2:30 pm on Tuesday, November 1st. Four speakers will cover a range of nanotechnology topics including nanofabrication, nanostructured materials, nanodevices, and bionanotechnology.
  • NSEF's Poster session on Tuesday, November 1st from 6:00-8:30 pm. Awards for the best student poster will be presented at the business meeting on Wednesday (see below).
  • The Nanowires Topical Banquet will be held on a river boat cruise for all speakers, organizers and other interested parties on Tuesday, November from 1st from 7:00-10:00 pm. A limited number of tickets will be made available at the topical sessions.
  • The business meeting and reception for NSEF members and other interested parties, with an awards presentation will be held on Thursday, November 3rd at lunchtime. It is a ticketed event, with a cost of $15 to go towards lunch. The awards are as follows:
    • Forum Award to recognize outstanding contributions to the advancement of nanoscale science and engineering in the field of Chemical Engineering through scholarship, education or service.
    • Young Investigator Award to recognize outstanding, interdisciplinary research in nanoscale science and engineering by an engineer or scientist who has not yet reached the age of 35.
    • Best Student Poster Award to recognize research in nanoscale science and engineering by a student.

NSEF in cooperation with the Society for Biological Engineering is developing the 2nd International
Conference on Bioengineering and Nanotechnology. The conference will be held in Santa Barbara,
California, at the California NanoSystems Institute. More details will follow.
