Area 16b Petrochemicals Sub-Committee Report by Bipin Vora/ Richard Rodriguez

2005

We had a very successful ethylene conference at the 2005-Spring meeting in Atlanta with 15 sessions. However the response for Aromatics Topical was not as good. We condensed the four sessions into two, and instead of making it as a separate Aromatics Topical, the two sessions were added to the Refining Topical sessions. There were no Papers from Area 16B at the October annual meeting at Cincinnati, Ohio.

As was done at the 2005 Spring meeting, Aromatics sessions were added to the Refining Topical. Interest in aromatics area continues to wane, with only five papers, there is only one session at Spring AIChE meeting. Even the venue of Orlando Disney World did not boost the number of papers.
